While exploring Ottawa's downtown one Tuesday evening photographer James Hardiment stumbled on a spectacular sight. The Parliament buildings Peace Tower glowed a purple hue. The purple was to symbolize a campaign raising awareness of domestic violence toward women. The London Woman Abused Women's Centre based in London, Ontario began the campaign which spread like a flame of hope across the nation!
November 15th 2016 was a day to "wear purple" and also "shine the light" as seen in the photographs above and below. #WearPurple and #ShinetheLight are tags on social media to see more photos of the event. The campaign is in support of women who have been too afraid to speak out about the violence and abuse from their partner or former partners.
