On Saturday 11th February at TD Stadium in Landsdowne Park hundreds of people gathered for the annual Crackup Snowmania Challenge! The event is part of the larger Alterna Savings Crackup comedy festival which runs from February 7-18, 2017 which supports mental health charities. The idea of the contest was to build the most snowmen in an hour to claim the Guinness world record!
In 2015 Ottawa briefly held the world record but lost out to a team in Japan shortly after. In 2017 the goal was to make 3,000 snowmen. Icy conditions made construction difficult this year as pictured above. Proceeds from the event such as the clothes items were donated to various charities.
